Built in 1961, the Kingscliff Amenities Hall, as it was then known, features a scallion style roof which was very new vogue at that time. Set on the foreshore of the beautiful seaside village of Kingscliff, and close to the village's shopping and recreational precincts, it soon became the town's cultural hub. In 2018 the Kingscliff Community Hall refurbishment occurred as part of the Kingscliff Foreshore redevelopment.

Christ Church Milton

The heritage listed Christ Church Milton is one of the earliest sites of Christian gathering in Brisbane. Although not the main centre of Milton Anglican activity today, it remains as a significant part of our life and tradition and is used on selected occasions by our community.

The Anglican history of Brisbane's inner west is closely entwined with the development of the city as a whole. It has its origins in the earliest years of Brisbane’s settlement. Christ Church Milton is thus a heritage listed building, with old world charm. The timber to build it was hauled from the Brisbane Valley after the first church was destroyed in a storm in 1890. The precinct also includes an historic rectory, gardens and remaining graves from the old cemetery.

Nestling adjacent to Suncorp Stadium, this worship space is also a community hub for various community groups. And it continues to act as a contemplative sign of the transcendent and of the immanent presence of the divine in the midst of city's now hectic life.

The heritage listed Christ Church Milton is one of the earliest sites of Christian gathering in Brisbane. Although not the main centre of Milton Anglican activity today, it remains as a significant part of our life and tradition and is used on selected occasions by our community.

The Anglican history of Brisbane's inner west is closely entwined with the development of the city as a whole. It has its origins in the earliest years of Brisbane’s settlement. Christ Church Milton is thus a heritage listed building, with old world charm. The timber to build it was hauled from the Brisbane Valley after the first church was destroyed in a storm in 1890. The precinct also includes an historic rectory, gardens and remaining graves from the old cemetery.

Nestling adjacent to Suncorp Stadium, this worship space is also a community hub for various community groups. And it continues to act as a contemplative sign of the transcendent and of the immanent presence of the divine in the midst of city's now hectic life.

This year's production is eagerly anticipated and promises to match the awe-inspiring sell-out performances of the past. St Peters Church will transform into a mesmerizing fusion of art and opera on the final weekend of October 2024, offering a cultural feast for the senses.

Mark your calendars for Sunday, 27th October, to be part of an extraordinary afternoon dedicated to the arts. "Operarté" at St Peters Church will not only showcase captivating opera but will also feature stunning artistic displays, creating an immersive and luxurious cultural experience. This event is perfect for opera enthusiasts and art lovers alike, guaranteeing an afternoon replete with breathtaking performances and visual splendor. Don't miss the opportunity to be enveloped in the grandeur of opera and art in the esteemed setting of East Maitland's iconic St Peters Church.

If you have ever wondered what opera was like, now is your chance to savor the experience. Morpeth Gallery, along with the Underground Opera Company, is presenting celebrated arias from famous operas, sung by some of Australia’s best opera singers. The performance is enhanced with vision of Gordon Hanley’s metal point artworks coming to life and projected as a backdrop during the performance.

Operarté is a marriage of the genius of ARC Living Master Artist, Mr Gordon Hanley, and The Underground Opera Company that combines exceptional live performances with the visual spectacle of Gordon Hanley’s artworks.

These photo realistic metalpoint masterpieces are drawn with 24ct Gold. The exhibition will include gold gilded reproductions of artworks that Mr Hanley has created to best represent each individual piece in the evenings programme.

Time lapse photographs are taken and combined to create a visually moving masterpiece. These moving masterpieces will be projected on a screen behind the singers in St Peters Cathedral to create a magical backdrop for each performance.

Artistic director Bruce Edwards noted that many audience members will be newcomers, to opera, who will enjoy the Underground Opera Company’s mix of famous arias, duets and musical theatre numbers.

Mr Edwards said he was proud to receive over 500 four and five star reviews (4.7/5) on the Underground Opera Company’s Ticketmaster page for past Opera performances in underground venues.

The company performs regularly in Brisbane’s Underground Opera House with events in mines, tunnels and caves around Australia.
